Clear answers
How much does it cost?
One purchase on the App Store. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads. Buy once, own it.
How does it work?
Record four tiny sounds around your home: thump a table, slam a drawer, shake your keys, tap a mug. HouseBeat trims and tunes them, then arranges them into a real song with an intro, a build, a drop and fills. Pick a recipe, pick a tune, set the tempo and swing, and export a video.
Why does it need the microphone?
Only to record the short sounds you tap out. Recording happens only when you tap a pad, lasts about 1.5 seconds, and the audio is processed and stored entirely on your phone. Nothing is ever uploaded.
What is the melody mode?
Your fourth sound (the mug tap) gets re-pitched into musical notes, so it can play one of six built-in tunes over your beat. Same mug, different notes. It is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, and that is the point.
Where do exported videos go?
Exports are vertical MP4 videos (perfect for TikTok, Reels and Shorts). The share sheet opens automatically, and you choose where the video goes: save it, message it, post it. HouseBeat never posts anything by itself.
Can I re-record a sound?
Yes, tap the small circular arrow on any pad and slam that drawer again. Your recordings are kept on your phone so your kit is ready next time you open the app.
Does anything leave my phone?
No. Recording, beat building, and video export all happen on your iPhone. The app makes no network connections and has no account system.
Privacy policy
HouseBeat collects nothing. No analytics, no trackers, no ads, no accounts, no network calls. Your recordings and videos never leave your phone unless you share them yourself.
| Route | What is used | Where it lives | Who can access it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pad recordings | About 1.5 seconds of microphone audio per pad, recorded only when you tap | On your phone, in the app's own storage | Only you |
| Exported videos | The beat video you choose to export | Wherever you send it from the share sheet | You, and anyone you share it with |
| App Store purchase | Standard purchase processing | Apple's systems | Apple, under Apple's privacy policy |
| Support email | Whatever you include in your message | You and the developer |
Microphone access is requested only when you record a pad, and can be revoked any time in Settings. The app never records in the background.
Children's privacy: the app collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes: if this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Since the app makes no network connections, no change can silently affect data already on your phone.
Effective date: 4 August 2026.
Terms of use
HouseBeat is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), supplemented by the following points:
- Purpose. HouseBeat is an entertainment and music-making app. It will not make you a professional producer, though it may make your kettle famous.
- Your recordings, your responsibility. Record sounds you have the right to record, and share your videos responsibly. What you post from the share sheet is your own decision.
- Pricing. The app is a one-time purchase for the current major version. Substantial future major versions may be sold as separate purchases; version 1 stays yours forever.
- Independence. HouseBeat is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc., TikTok, Instagram or any platform you share your beats to.
