What it does
Built for Google Takeout
Reads the JSON sidecars and album folders that trip up other tools, and uses them as the source of truth.
See every fix first
A clear before → after table with the reason and a confidence level for each photo. No black box.
Photos and videos
JPEG, HEIC and .mov/.mp4 get the corrected date written losslessly into the file — no re-encoding.
Undo anytime
Even after you quit. Originals are restored from a backup kept safely on your Mac.
Bulk adjust
Shift a whole trip by hours or days to fix time-zone mishaps, or set a batch to a single date.
100% offline
Your photos never leave your Mac. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no tracking.
How it works
- Drop a folder or Takeout exportDrag it onto the window, or pick it with Choose Folder. Nothing is uploaded.
- Review the proposed datesSorted, searchable, grouped by album — with the reason for every change.
- Apply, then undo anytimeOne click fixes them all. Originals are backed up, so you can always roll back.

Support
Questions, bugs, or a tricky photo library? Email us and we’ll get back to you, usually within 1–2 business days.
Does it change my actual photos?
It only changes the date metadata (and the file’s created/modified timestamps). The image and video content is never re-compressed or altered. For photos and videos, the corrected date is written losslessly. You can also choose to save fixed copies and leave your originals completely untouched.
What if I don’t like the result?
Every change is reversible. Undo the last fix with ⌘Z, or from the start screen even after quitting — originals are restored from a backup kept on your Mac. We never keep copies of your photos.
Do I need my Google Takeout files unzipped?
Yes — unzip the Takeout export first (double-click in Finder), then drop the folder onto PhotoTime Doctor. It reads the JSON sidecars inside.
Does it work without internet?
Completely. PhotoTime Doctor runs entirely on your Mac and never connects to the network. The only online step is the one-time App Store purchase, handled by Apple.
Is it a subscription?
No. One purchase unlocks applying fixes forever. Scanning and preview are always free.
Legal
Effective June 29, 2026.
PhotoTime Doctor is designed to be private by default. It runs entirely on your Mac.
What we don’t do
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No analytics, telemetry, tracking, or advertising.
- No network connection — the app does not transmit your files or any information about them.
- No cloud storage and no copies of your photos are ever sent or retained by us.
What the app accesses on your Mac
- Only the folders and files you explicitly select (via the system file picker or drag-and-drop). The app is sandboxed and cannot reach anything else.
- To support undo, the app stores a small file on your Mac listing the original dates of files you fixed. It stays on your device and contains only dates and file paths — never image content.
Purchases
The one-time purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple’s handling of that transaction is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
