How it works

Map each display to its speakers. One-time setup in the mapping matrix — monitor to desk speakers, TV to TV, MacBook to built-ins.
Turn on Follow Active Window. The app watches which display holds your focused window (no Accessibility or Screen Recording permission needed).
Just work. Audio output switches when your attention does, with an adjustable delay so rapid window-hopping stays calm.

Sound didn't switch?

Open the menu bar icon: a ⚠️ line means a mapped device isn't connected right now. SoundFollows never guesses — connect the device or remap the display.

Can two windows play through two different speakers at once?

No — macOS has one system output at a time. SoundFollows automates which one it is, based on the window you're focused on. All audio moves together.

Privacy Policy

SoundFollows does not collect any data. None.

No analytics, no tracking, no accounts, no server. The app makes no network connections.
To do its job, the app reads window positions (to learn which display holds your active window) and your audio device list (to switch outputs). This is processed in memory on your Mac and never recorded or transmitted anywhere.
Your settings (display mappings, preferences) are stored only on your Mac.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment information.

Terms of Use

SoundFollows is a paid application purchased once through the Mac App Store. All features are included; there are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Use of the app is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Purchases, refunds, and family sharing follow App Store policies.
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. It changes your Mac's default audio device only in response to your configuration.
