Sound follows your window.

SoundFollows switches your Mac's audio output to the speakers of whichever display holds the window you're working in. Automatically. Every time.

Available on the Mac App Store

What it does

๐ŸŽฏ

Follows your attention

Focus a window on your monitor โ€” sound moves to the monitor's speakers. Move to the TV โ€” sound follows.

๐ŸŽง

Priority rules

Headphones connected? They always win. You decide the pecking order.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Microphone too

Optionally switch your default mic per display, with its own mapping.

โŒจ๏ธ

Hotkeys

Pause following or cycle outputs from the keyboard, system-wide.

๐Ÿ”’

Private by design

Sandboxed. No scary permissions, no account, no analytics, no network.

๐Ÿง˜

Never guesses

Unmapped display or missing device? It does nothing rather than the wrong thing.

How it works

  1. Map each display to its speakers. One-time setup in the mapping matrix โ€” monitor to desk speakers, TV to TV, MacBook to built-ins.
  2. Turn on Follow Active Window. The app watches which display holds your focused window (no Accessibility or Screen Recording permission needed).
  3. Just work. Audio output switches when your attention does, with an adjustable delay so rapid window-hopping stays calm.

Pricing

$9.99 once

Everything included: auto-follow, priority rules, mic following, hotkeys, per-display volume. One purchase, yours forever. No in-app purchases, no subscription.

Support

Sound didn't switch?

Open the menu bar icon: a โš ๏ธ line means a mapped device isn't connected right now. SoundFollows never guesses โ€” connect the device or remap the display.

Can two windows play through two different speakers at once?

No โ€” macOS has one system output at a time. SoundFollows automates which one it is, based on the window you're focused on. All audio moves together.
